The Voting Process

HOW TO VOTE
Your voter information card shows the precinct, polling location and voting districts for your address. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on election day. If you have moved within Bay County, you must vote in your new precinct. Call our office at (850)784-6100 before election day to find out where your new precinct is located.

You are not required to bring your voter information card to the polling place.  Instead, take some form of identification bearing your signature, as well as a picture I.D. to the polling place since the law requires both signature and photo identification in order to vote. If you do not bring these materials to the polling place, you will be required to vote a provisional ballot.

BE A PREPARED VOTER

  • Before election day check your voter information card to make sure all information is correct. If not, call our office for instructions on how to get your registration corrected or updated.
  • If you do not know the location of your polling place, call our office for directions before election day or click Find Your Precinct.
  • Request your absentee ballot as soon as you know that you will be unable to vote at your polling place on election day.
  • If you are leaving Bay County for an extended period of time, check with our office about any upcoming elections.
  • Watch the newspaper for notices about book closing dates and election dates, as well as sample ballots.
  • The Supervisor of Elections Office handles county, state and federal elections primarily.

SECRET BALLOT
Privacy in the polling place is required by law to ensure that no one will be able to see how you vote. Each voter is given enough time to read the ballot and record his/her vote without influence or harassment from anyone. A voter may request assistance in voting because of blindness, disability, or inability to read or write. You may call our office at 850/784-6100 or inquire at your polling place for more information regarding voting assistance.
