WHAT IS REQUIRED OF A PRECINCT ELECTION OFFICIAL?
- Be a registered voter in Bay County.
- Be available for the entire election day. (Approximately 5:45 a.m. to 8:30
p.m.)
- New precinct election officials must successfully complete an
orientation packet available in our office or
here.
- Attend precinct election official training classes before elections.
Variable schedules are provided.
- Retirees, under the Florida Retirement system, must allow a
full year's lapse prior to precinct election official employment.
WHEN AM I NEEDED?
We need you on our list every year for state, county, federal, and municipal
elections.
IS THERE TRAINING?
The Supervisor of Elections will train all Precinct Election Officials which
includes Clerks, Touch Screen Specialists, Inspectors and Deputies prior to each
election. You will be trained in the operation of the election voting
equipment, plus your duties and responsibilities as a member of the election
board of your precinct. The training is mandatory and will vary from one to
four hours. There is also a one time certification process that the Clerks,
Assistant Clerks, and Touch Screen Specialists must complete.
WHAT WILL MY RESPONSIBILITIES BE?
- Report no later than 5:45 a.m. on election day to your assigned precinct.
- Prepare the precinct for voting.
- Set up voting equipment.
- Greet the voters. Verify their registration and provide them with the
appropriate ballot.
- At the end of the day, close the precinct and prepare election materials for
delivery to the Elections office.
